My stay at Malmaison Edinburgh had its ups and downs. The location was fantastic, with relaxing walks nearby and easy access to the bustling tourist spots. However, the service experience left much to be desired—ranging from confusion during check-in to a breakfast service that fell flat. The room itself was comfortable, though I experienced some temperature issues throughout my stay.

My stay at Malmaison Edinburgh was quite an experience. The charming atmosphere of the historic building immediately caught my attention. though I had a few reservations about some aspects. The room was spacious and the bed remarkably comfortable, making for a good night's sleep, but there were some issues with privacy and soundproofing that detracted from the overall experience.

Rooms
6.0
The room was large and comfortable, but the lack of a privacy blind was a drawback. it faced a square, making it awkward to change clothes without closing the curtains. Still, I loved the cozy bed which ensured a decent night's sleep.
Service
5.0
While many staff members were friendly and helpful, I found the reception experience to be lacking. on check-in, there was a delay in getting my room, and it felt dismissive when I asked about it.

The hotel is perfectly situated near the Port of Leith, allowing for easy access to several restaurants and a pleasant waterfront stroll. It's a bit removed from central Edinburgh, but I found public transport options to be reasonable.

I had a mixed experience at Malmaison Edinburgh. The location by the waterfront was fantastic and surrounded by trendy bars and restaurants, making it easy to explore the area. However, I found the room to be a bit shabby and could use some updates. Plus, I encountered a few issues with cleanliness upon arrival which definitely impacted my stay.

The staff were generally pleasant and responsive. I got a good vibe from them, especially at the bar, but there were moments where the service felt a bit slow, particularly during breakfast.

The location is a big plus. Right next to the Port of Leith and close to transport links, it made getting around the city super convenient.
Dining

I had high expectations for my stay at Malmaison Edinburgh, especially given the hotel's reputation and charming riverside location. However, the reality fell short. While the staff were friendly and helpful, I encountered several maintenance issues that detracted from the experience, including poor lighting and cleanliness in my room. Overall, it was a mixed bag of comfort and disappointment.

Rooms
6.0
The room was of reasonable size but poorly lit, with one downlighter out of three functioning. The bedding was excellent, yet I found signs of neglect like mould, stains, and a half-broken shower guard that left the bathroom floor soaked.
Service

While some staff were friendly and accommodating, especially at reception, my check-out experience was rather rude and dismissive. It felt like they were overwhelmed and unable to address my concerns adequately.
Location
8.0
The hotel’s riverside location was ideal, allowing for easy access to local attractions and charming pubs. It created a lovely atmosphere despite the noise from the street below, which was an unwelcome surprise.
Dining
7.0
The breakfast selection was decent, though I was disappointed by the cold coffee. I appreciated the evening meal I had at the brasserie; the food was mostly enjoyable, although there were minor service hiccups that overshadowed the experience.
Facilities
6.0
The hotel has potential with its unique charm and various amenities, yet it seemed a bit understaffed, affecting service efficiency. I did like the atmosphere in the bar, which was inviting, although it was often quiet.

The Malmaison Edinburgh has a charming exterior and spacious rooms that I really enjoyed. However, I did notice some things that could use a refresh, like some worn carpets in common areas and minor issues in my room. The location is great with plenty of nearby bars and restaurants, and I had a fantastic dining experience in the hotel's restaurant. Overall, it was a good stay, but there are definitely areas for improvement.

Rooms
